Robert Knauer, 79, of Sandusky passed away Wednesday morning, November 11, 2015 in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born June 8, 1936 in Sandusky where he was a life-long resident. He retired from the Ohio Edison Company after 37 years, where he served as a Substation Supervisor. Robert was a member of Perseverance Lodge #329, F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sophie (Decker) Knauer; two sons, Douglas (Elizabeth) Knauer of Put-In-Bay, Ohio and Chester “Skip” (Cecelia) Dietrick of Grosse Ile, Michigan; one daughter, Charlotte (John) Knauer Stout of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Samuel, Kelsey and Heather Dietrick, Simon, Oliver and Levi Stout and Alexandra Knauer.
Friends may call Friday, November 13, 2015 from 3:00 PM until time of funeral service at 6:30 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. Robert Patton will officiate. Committal services for the family will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
