To the family of Jim: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Jim was a good guy and I thought the world of him. I regret that I haven't been in touch with him over the past few years but I have thought of his kindness and wisdom for years. I wish the family all the hope and love that I can give you all.

Jim Mears was one of my teachers at Sandusky High School and also a fine sailing instructor at the Sandusky Sailing Club. He taught so much more than history or sailing. He talked of "mapping out where we wanted to be one year, three years or five years from now and developing a plan to get there. He had an empathy for students which enabled him to connect and give life lessons beyond the books. My deepest condolences to the family. I shall never forget him.

Joan and family,

We were saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He not only was one of my teachers at SHS but later on a mentor. Our time together was too short. We extend our deepest sympathy and truly hearfelt condolences to you and your family. Though we have not lived in Sandusky for almost 40 years there are some folks you have such respect for that the distance and years do not matter. He was one of those people.

Sincerely,

Joe and Diane Harbrecht

My condolences on your loss. I always admired Mr. Mears when I was in Sandusky schools. He was a friend to all. May the Lord hold you in his arms and provide comfort.
