Thomas A. Gibbs

Thomas A. “Tom” Gibbs, 70, residing in Sandusky, went to be with the Lord following a hard fought battle with cancer Monday morning, August 10, 2015 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Tom was a 1963 graduate of Margaretta High School.  He loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.  He was employed by the Erie County Engineers Highway Department as a road and bridge inspector for 30 years and the Ohio Turnpike for 10 years.  Tom was very active at the First Christian Church, serving as trustee, elder, and board chairman. He was a scout leader, loved old cars, riding his bicycle and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy (Ellis) Gibbs; one son, Kevin (Pam) Gibbs of Vickery; one daughter, Jill (Greg) Cumston of Milan; grandchildren, Dixie and Hunter Gibbs, Bobby, Ben, Katie and Jeremiah Cumston; great grandson, Roman Weiner; one sister, Connie (Cotton) Edwards of West Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Neva (Warner) Gibbs; one sister, Kathy Smith and one brother Lonnie Gibbs.

Friends may call Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky from 9:00 AM until time of the celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.

Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky is assisting the family will arrangements.
