Vincent Leander Schaffer, 93, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1932, in Monroeville, Ohio, to the late Carl and Martha (Pheiffer) Schaffer.
Vince attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Monroeville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. A lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, he faithfully served on the parish council and cemetery committee for many years.
Vince found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He loved spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, and enjoying games of euchre with family and friends. He especially treasured playing Uno and Yahtzee with his special daughter, Deb. He found his passion as a farmer early in life, working first alongside his father and later with his brother and nephews. His work brought him deep fulfillment and pride. He was a lifetime VIP blood donor with the American Red Cross, having donated over 10 gallons. Outside of work and his community, Vince was an avid Cleveland sports fan. No matter the season, you could always find him watching the games on TV or listening to them on the radio.
On November 19, 1960, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Suleski), and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and faith.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Norma Schaffer, Deborah Schaffer, and Donna Schaffer of Monroeville; Karen (Steve) Cebull of Sandusky; Tamara (Rick) Henney of Bellevue; Cheryl Cipolla (Bill Arthur) of Sandusky; and by his nine grandchildren: Kyle Cebull, Cassandra Cebull, Cody Cebull, Alyssa Burnett, Alexa Cipolla, Vincent Cipolla, Lauren Henney, Matalin Henney, and Kyra Henney. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Kyle Jr., Amelie, Blake, Ava, Amelia, and Isabel; his sister, Mildred Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Vince was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Schaffer; his brothers, Paul Schaffer and Carl Schaffer Jr.; his sisters, Mary Hettel, Dolores Miller, Elnora Bores, Rosemary Schaffer, Carolyn Mench, and Dorothy Schaffer; and four special nephews and farming partners: David Schaffer, Gary Schaffer, Ricky Schaffer, and Roger Schaffer.
Family and friends may call on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville, OH, with Father Ronald Schock officiating.
