Terry A. Fitzgerald, 79, of Monroeville passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born April 10, 1946, in Tekoa, Washington and was a 1964 graduate of Monroeville High School. Terry was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a hard worker and employed by many local construction companies including Buckeye Excavating, Lake Erie Construction, Erie Blacktop, and was a retiree of Homan Transportation. He also owned and operated Terry’s Tavern in Monroeville.
He was a member of the Norwalk American Legion Post 41, Norwalk VFW Post #2743, a life member of the Sandusky AMVETS Post #17, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially their weekly cookouts. He also found joy in cutting firewood.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years; Elaine (Myers) Fitzgerald; three children, Shawn (Shelley) Fitzgerald, Jody (Craig) Hampton, both of Monroeville, and Monica (Keith) Wright of Norwalk; five grandchildren, Josh Mark and Brandy Nuhfer, Makenna Hampton, Alayna Hampton, Silas Wright, and Declan Wright; one great grandson, Gage Nuhfer; four sisters, Linda Smith, Theresa (Gary) Fries, Marcia Reed, all of Monroeville, and Kathy (Dave) Nickoli of Norwalk; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Bernice (Dokken) Fitzgerald; and one brother, James L. Fitzgerald.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, in the St Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville.
