Sean Alexander, age 76, passed away at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH August 30, 2025, of complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Portsmouth, VA on June 18, 1949, to Charles Lee Bouton and Marcella Cunningham Bouton, Sean was raised in Indiana, PA in a big house with his grandparents next door. He gained discipline from the nuns while attending parochial schools and later a public high school where Sean was active in baseball and football.
As a student Sean had several jobs. He worked on a Christmas tree farm where he got stung by a bee. It was then he learned he had an allergy to bee stings. Sean later worked at an auto parts store.
The Air Force became his calling shortly after graduating from high school. While in the military Sean was trained in electronics and worked as a radar repairman stationed in Germany. It was there he shared an apartment with two other servicemen and got to travel around Europe a bit. Coming from a small Pennsylvania town, this introduction to a bigger world broadened Sean’s horizons.
Sean later was transferred to a radar site in northern California. After his military service was completed, Sean attended San Diego State University with a major in Accounting. San Diego appealed very much to Sean working as a waiter in an up-scale restaurant on the edge of the airport while attending school.
Sean went on to become a Business Manager for Hughes Aircraft Company in Torrance, CA where he met his wife, Kathy. While at Hughes he met Hugh Langford, an outside consultant, who took Sean under his wing and mentored him. Sean became a management consultant with Langford & Associates and worked with Hugh for many years. Sean eventually started his own consultancy in the field of Cost and Schedule Control of large government contracts. Sean worked with clients all over the US including engagements in Canada, England, Germany, Belgium and Australia. Sean was a gifted speaker and taught management courses to multiple large corporations. He also was a very sought-after speaker at international conferences around the world.
Sean was an avid reader, and he would also listen to books on cassettes and CDs while driving his car or flying in airplanes. Sean’s interests were very broad, and his library included thousands of books. Sean had a unique quality of being able to extract what he learned in his readings and apply it to his profession and personal life. Sean also loved fine dining and travel. Sean and Kathy vacationed to various Caribbean islands, Hawaii, Bermuda, France, Switzerland, Austria and several trips to Italy, which was his favorite.
Sean and Kathy later moved to Northern Virginia and spent many years there. Sean continued to consult, and Kathy finished school and started her own business. In 2014 Sean retired and they moved to Westlake, OH. It was a couple years later that Sean was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and later dementia. Kathy was Sean’s sole caregiver for the next many years. As the disease progressed, Kathy could not continue to shoulder all the work alone. At the end of March of 2025 Sean’s final location was the Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky, OH. Sean made several friends there and the nurses and aids liked him. They called him The Helper because he was ready to lend a hand where he could. It was five months later that Sean went to hospital and then moved to hospice and passed away on August 29th.
Sean is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael James Bouton and survived by his former spouse and caregiver, Kathy Alexander, his sister, Judith Ann Bouton and brother Jeffrey Scott Bouton.
