Ruth Evelyn (Cowell) Maier

Ruth E. (Cowell) Maier, 98, of Sandusky, formerly of Ft Wayne, IN and Cleveland, OH, died Thursday, February 4, 2021 with her daughter at her side.

She was born October 10, 1922 in Lakewood, Ohio to John and Elizabeth (Seckel) Cowell. In 1942 she married Leonard Maier. They enjoyed almost 62 years together before his passing in 2004. They had five sons and a daughter.

She is survived by her sons, David (Laurel) of Bay Village, Ronald (Brigitte) of Russell, PA, Jonathan (Eileen) of Parma, and Eric of Columbus; daughter, Lenore Kure of Sandusky; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sister, Ethel King of Rocky River.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Leonard; her parents; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Linda Maier; and sister, Mary Guentzler.

There will be a private family service. Rev. Lenore Kure will officiate, assisted by Rev. Jason Maier.
