Rosemary (Ballard) Witka

Rosemary Witka, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on August 14, 1952, to Russell Ballard and Edith Etherton, Rosemary’s life was marked by strength, wit, and a fierce love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Ballard; her cherished daughter, Edith Elizabeth LaPort; and her sister, Sherry Ackernecht. Though she faced life’s hardships with quiet resilience, Rosemary remained determined, sharp, and full of personality.

She leaves behind a legacy through her daughters: Rosemarie A. Corby (Mike), Billie Jo Dwyre (Mark), and Natalie A. Green (Sean). She is also survived by her mother, Edith Etherton; her sisters, Linda Rush and Rochelle Carr (Tom), her cat Fancy; and a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with pride and affection.

Rosemary will be remembered for her love of crime TV shows, her infectious laugh, a great smile that could light up a room, and her uncanny ability to make friends wherever she went. She brought humor and a sharp perspective to every conversation, leaving behind countless stories and shared laughs.

A private day of remembrance will be held at the grave site of her beloved infant daughter, Edith Elizabeth, located at Acacia Park Cemetery in Pendleton, NY.
