Roger Ralph Scheid, 87, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Norwalk Memorial Home.
Roger was born on February 17, 1937, to Ralph and Doris Scheid. He was a 1955 graduate of Bellevue High School and served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. Roger trained at the United States Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland, to become a First-Class Radioman and served on the destroyer USS Harold J. Ellison. While serving in the Navy, he crossed the equator three times.
Roger was a farmer who dedicated his life to working the family farm, which he loved dearly. In the 1960s and 1970s, he also worked for the Huron County Soil & Water Conservation District and International Metal Hose Company. Roger was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Pontiac, Monroeville, where he held many offices over the years. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, whom he married on March 3, 1962, Karen (Mackey) Scheid; his son, Jeffrey (Janet) Scheid of Monroeville; his daughters, Laura (Steven) Robbins of Collins, Heather Scheid of North Ridgeville, and Tana (Christopher) Reynolds of Eureka, CA; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both sisters; Vera Anita Scheid in infancy and Marlene Ann Buck in 2020, and one grandchild.
There will be no services at this time. The family will celebrate Roger’s life at a later date, with his burial at the St. Peter Cemetery.
