Robert “Bob” V. Barker, 81, of Sandusky passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.
He was born February 5, 1939 in Winifrede, West Virginia. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam, the Coast Guard, with search and rescue, in Kodiak, Alaska aboard the USS Bittersweet. Bob was also stationed at Cedar Point, Sandusky. He worked at the Norfolk-Western and Southern Railroad as a car inspector and was a part-time police officer. Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 83, where he volunteered with various committees, and a member of the Forty and Eight-Volture Nationale.
He enjoyed rides at Cedar Point, playing cards, bingo, working on his cars, dancing, and watching Star Trek. Bob loved walking at the mall, through Sam’s Club, and around Cedar Point, talking to all his wonderful friends he made along the way. Bob had fun traveling the beaches of the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and the bayou in Prairieville, Louisiana. Most of all he loved spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons, they meant the world to him.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Rick Bonderer; grandsons, Andrew and Amanda Bonderer, Josh and Ashley Bonderer, and Lucas Bonderer; great grandsons, Austin and Colin Bonderer; great grandpuppies, Ginger, Ralphie, and Max; great grand kitty, Hachi; sisters, Mary Ann Sigmon and Linda and Ed Kephart; brothers, Herbert "Jabbo" and Janie Barker, Charles “Pete” and Donna Pauley; sisters-in-law, Diane Eversole and Doris Barker; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Herbert (Virginia) Barker, brother, Henry Barker; and brother-in-law, James Sigmon.
He will be loved and, in our hearts, forever and we know he will have peace in Heaven.
Services for the family will be held with burial at the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio.
