Robert J. Ruffing

Robert J. Ruffing, 84, of Norwalk passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 7, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born June 17, 1937, in Bellevue, Ohio. He served in the Ohio National Guard for eight years and was employed by the Ford Motor Company for forty years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, and the UAW. Bob had a wonderful sense of humor and will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren for “buddy”, the nickname he gave to his pocketknife. He enjoyed winters in Florida with his wife. His hobbies included walking, hiking outdoors, camping, playing cards, traveling, and Bob was a great handyman.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn A. (Bruner) Ruffing; three children, Kevin (Ann) Ruffing of Ormond Beach, FL, Kathie Chapman of Norwalk, and Kimberly Anderson of Bedford, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Ruffing, Emily Ruffing, Cassandra (Tom) DeLuca, Andrew (Kaleigh) Roeder, Kaitlynn Webb, Christian Anderson, Cameron Anderson, Caullin Anderson; four great grandchildren, Gracelynn Roeder, Deegan Roeder, Gianna DeLuca, and Maria DeLuca; one sister, Theresa Wilhelm of Norwalk; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Elizabeth (Simon) Ruffing; one sister, Jeannette Daniels; two brothers, Charles Ruffing, and Arnold Ruffing.

Friends may call from 2:00 pm –5:00 pm Sunday, October 10, 2021, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Funeral mass will be 10:00 am Monday, October 11, 2021, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville.
