Robert Allen Rahrig, Sr.

Robert A. Rahrig, Sr., 74, of Monroeville passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 9, 2022, at his residence.

He was born July 27, 1947, in Sandusky. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a cook while stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Following his return from service, he joined his father at the Ed Rahrig & Son Painting Company, which he later owned and operated.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 547.

He is survived by four children, Robert A. Rahrig, Jr. of Falls Church, VA, William (Valora) Justice of Sandusky, Chad (Amy Bowmar) Rahrig of Louisville, Kentucky, and Stephanie (Joseph Picard) Rahrig of Wooster; ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter; two brothers, Melvin Rahrig of Sandusky and Dana Rahrig of Bettsville; and one sister, Shirley Rahrig of Bettsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Gropp) Rahrig in 2020; his parents, Melvin and Beverly (Heinz) Rahrig; two brothers, Richard and Michael Rahrig.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville. Fr. Chris Jesudhason will officiate.
