Richard A. “Dick” Kuns, 85, of Sandusky passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.
He was born on August 1, 1940, to H.T. “Ted” and Luella (Niemann) Kuns in Castalia. Dick graduated from Margaretta High School with the class of 1958. Dick and his wife of sixty-seven years, Alice M. (Schonhardt) Kuns, have lived their entire life in the Castalia area. Along with his father and brothers Dick farmed on the family farm, until he began raising trout at the Castalia Farms for twenty-eight years. After retiring from Castalia Farms, he was employed at Shaker Village and Muirwood Apartments.
Dick attended Grace Lutheran Church in Castalia and played on the church dartball and softball teams for many years. He was an avid hunter his entire life and enjoyed the many years he spent at the family hunting camp in Pennsylvania.
Dick is survived by his wife Alice; his sons, Keith (Becki) Kuns and Douglas Kuns, both of Sandusky; his six grandchildren, Jason, Nick, Schanel, Dane, Cory, and Leah; nine great grandchildren, Selah, Jordon, Logan, Isaac, Evelyn, Otis, Colette, Lydia, and Alie; sisters, Carolyn Warner of Sandusky and Wanda Ross of Castalia; sisters-in-law, Carol and Linda Kuns; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Dick is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and James Mazur; his parents, Ted and Luella Kuns; his brothers, Norman “Sam”, Larry, Jim, and an infant brother; an infant great grandson; and brother-in-law, Harold Schonhardt.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Road, Sandusky. Pastor Tom Groot and Pastor Ken Hiser will officiate.
