Rhoda "Toni" M. (Cecil) Springstead

Rhoda “Toni” M. (Cecil) Springstead, 94, of Sandusky passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, in the Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born on December 30, 1929, to Ada Belle (Burchett) and Bert Cecil and was a 1948 graduate of Pikeville High School, Pikeville, Kentucky.

After moving to Ohio, Rhoda worked on the assembly line for three years at the former Philco and for a short time was employed at JC Penney. She married Robert Springstead on July 3, 1953. Following the birth of her children she became a homemaker, and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

“Toni” enjoyed bowling in the Cedarette League at Cedar Lanes, and a couple’s league with her husband at the former Bonnie Lanes. She also belonged to a card club for many years, and loved listening and dancing to Big Band music with Bob.

She is survived by her son, David (Martha) Springstead; daughters, Deborah (Curtis) Brown and Diane (Jeff) Cole; eight grandchildren, two great grandsons; sisters, Jodie Cummings and Maude May; one brother, Mike Cecil; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband Robert in September of 2022; her granddaughter, Megan Brown; stepmom, Bessie (Martin) Cecil; brothers, Richard, Andrew, Howard, Hillard, and Charles Cecil.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in the funeral home. Pastor Ted Buehl and Pastor Diane Bell will co-officiate, followed by a private family service at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
