Raymond Gerber Obituary

Raymond E. “Gabby” Gerber, 91, of Monroeville passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in the Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.

Ray was born on June 22, 1935, in Monroeville to the late Cletus and Monica (Leis) Gerber. He was raised in a tight-knit family and throughout his life carried out the values of family and hard work instilled in him by his parents. He graduated from Monroeville High School in 1953 and dedicated his life to his craft as a skilled cement finisher and bricklayer. Ray married the love of his life, Mary Jane Bolding on January 16, 1960, in Norwalk and together spent sixty-six years of love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Ray was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a proud member of the Ohio Bricklayers Union, where he formed many lasting friendships and earned the respect of his peers. Ray was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Legion, Eagles, and the VFW.

Gabby found joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to his garden, fishing, and crafting beautiful pieces in his woodworking shop. His family was his pride and joy, and they will forever cherish his warmth and wisdom.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; his six children, Mike (Kelly), Mark, Mitch, Michelle, Monica, and Matt; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Myron, Cletus, Gerald, Donald, Richard, Patricia, Thelma, and Doris.
