Ociejean Stidham Obituary

Ociejean Stidham, 82, of Sandusky and formerly of Castalia went to be with the Lord and her family in Heaven on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

To say Ociejean was a remarkable woman would sell her short. She was born August 23, 1937 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and was very proud of receiving her GED in 1977 from Sandusky High School. For over 50 years her Christian journey included attending Bethel Alliance Church, Grace Church of God, and Calvary Temple. She was a loving wife, mom of four, grandma, great grandma, and foster mom. She was employed at Sawmill Creek for twenty-five years as a banquet server. She loved reading, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She cooked the most amazing lasagna, spaghetti, and no-bake cookies!! Ociejean was always looking to help anyone in need and cherished her time spent volunteering at Stein Hospice and Care and Share. When it became difficult to physically help others over the last few years, her heart of gold continued its purpose in prayers for others. The impact that she’s left behind is so great and so big, that she will never ever truly be gone.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, whom she married on February 4, 1956, Donald Stidham, Sr.; three children, Ronald L. (Karen) Stidham of Monroeville, Lori (Mike) Castillo of Huron, and John (Erica) Stidham of Sandusky; fifteen grandchildren, Virginia Izzard, Ronald Stidham, Jr., Joshua Tidwell, Jeremy Stidham, Sara Elizabeth Cozart, Wayne Stidham, Shannon Stidham, Donald Stidham, III, Daniel Stidham, Joshua Stidham, Dominic Castillo, Mason Castillo, Jaclyn Miller, John Stidham, and Caleb Stidham; eighteen great grandchildren; her first great great grandchild on the way; four siblings, Ronald Mullins of Jonesborough, TN, Doyle (Phyllis) Mullins, Jr. of Bradenton, FL, Ledford Mullins of Winchester, KY, and Daretha (Rick) Morris of Big Stone Gap, VA; step mother, Sylvia Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Stidham, Jr.; one granddaughter at birth; her parents, Doyle and Maude (Phillips) Mullins; and her loving grandmother, Oshia Mae Collier.

Friends may call from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 16, 2020 in the Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Road, Sandusky. Mr. Paul Bushhorn will officiate. Burial will be in Graves Cemetery, Margaretta Township.
