Michael Maschari Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our son Michael Kevin Maschari is no longer carrying around the pain of addiction and has passed away of an accidental overdose on September 1, 2021.

He was born on October 8, 1989, in Sandusky to Keli (Swain) Clark and Daniel J. Steele. Michael was a 2008 graduate of Margaretta High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was a former member of Calvary Episcopal Church and more recently attended Father’s Heart Church. He was formerly employed by Kalahari Resorts. Michael was an avid sports fan and never met a sport he didn’t like, and he loved to sit and talk sports with anyone he could. If the TV was on it was always on ESPN.

Michael struggled with the disease of addiction for many years, but he was much more than his disease.  Through his struggles he always kept his boyish smile and love of playing with his many nieces and nephews. He loved making people laugh and was very good at it, especially when it came to imitating his mother.  Michael had a big heart and if a family member or friend needed help, Michael was there to lend a hand.  No matter what, Michael was loved by his family unconditionally and his absence will be felt by his family for the rest of our lives.

Michael is survived by his parents, Keli (Matthew) Clark, Daniel (Kimberly) Steele, and David Maschari Sr.; two brothers, David (Brenda) Maschari Jr. of Fremont and Cameron Steele of Sandusky; seven sisters, Mallory (William) Mock, Erin (Adam) Greene, Barbara Maschari, Holly Maschari, and Sophia Steele, all of Sandusky, Vanessa (Zachary) Garner, and Lauren (Alex) Castro both of Hartsville, South Carolina; grandparents, Barbara Swain, Betti & Steve Sidoti, and Beverly and August Maschari; two uncles, Scott (Judy) Farrell and A.J. Sidoti, both of Sandusky; three aunts, Lori Fiandra of Windemere Florida, Tina (Brian) Gilbert, and Babe (Andy) Palmer, both of Sandusky; girlfriend, Sidney Simcox of Sandusky; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Noelle Christine Maschari on July 30.2017, grandparents, Don Swain, and Daniel Steele Sr, uncle, Jon Farrell, and aunt, Lindalee Farrell.

If you are struggling with addiction, please reach out for help. If there is breath in your lungs there is hope. Recovery is possible and help is out there.
