Melvin "Butch" Lee Birkich, Jr.

Melvin L. (Butch) Birkich, aged 72, of Sandusky formerly of Massillon passed away December 11, 2021, after a period of declining health. 
He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged 1968. He worked at Massillon Steel Castings until 1974 when he suffered a cerebral aneurysm after which he became disabled. Prior to that he drove a truck for Republic Steel and Union Drawn.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Birkich and Steve Birkich; his cousin, Robert Petroff; and his good friend and guardian, since 1986, Paul K. Doering; all of Massillon. 
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pfeil Funeral Home of Sandusky.
Services will be held at the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel in Sandusky on Friday December 17, 2021, at 11:00AM. 
Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
