Mary Ann (Baden) Wallen

Mary Ann Wallen, 77, of Monroeville passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born October 3, 1943, in Malinta, Ohio and was a graduate of Malinta Grelton High School. Mary and her husband Roger moved to the Monroeville area in 1967 and became members of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ. She retired from the Monroeville Library in 2008. Mary was gracious with her time by volunteering as a 4H advisor for many years, running the Summer Reading Club program through the Monroeville Library, and assisting with the church community garden. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and canning. Mary cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, Jeffrey (Patricia) Wallen of Monroeville, David (Katie) Wallen of Owosso, Michigan, Suzanne James of Bay View, Tim Wallen of Monroeville, and Eric Wallen of Monroeville; sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Sandy) Baden of Naples, FL; sister-in-law, Sondra (Jim) Fouts of Napoleon; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger I. Wallen in 2017; son-in-law, Norman James, Jr. in 2018; and her parents, Earl and Lorena (Hoff) Busch.

Friends may call from 1:00 pm until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate.
