Lynn Cherry Obituary

Lynn H. Cherry, 88, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Monday, August 3, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Lynn was born October 28, 1931 to the late Henry and Clara (Hehrer) Cherry and attended Monroeville High School. He served in Korea with the United States Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, Betty L. (Snyder) Cherry, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sandusky on March 14, 1953 and they were blessed to spend 67 years together. Lynn was the Fire Chief for the Village of Bay View and worked at NASA Plumbrook for various companies, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Betty L. Cherry of Bay View; three children, James (Deborah) Cherry of Norwalk, Kathy (William) Keegan of Sandusky, and Brian (Lisa Drake) Cherry of Crystal Rock; son-in-law, James Lochotzki; siblings, Lonnie (Eleanor) Cherry of Monroeville, Wayne Cherry of Monroeville, Celia Harding of Bryan, Ohio, Carol (Robert) Brutcher of Norwalk, Melvin (Joanne) Cherry of Monroeville, and David (JoAnn) Cherry of Norwalk; brother-in-law, Len Johnson of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Cora Snyder of Bay View; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diana Lochotzki; one grandson, Kyle P. Cherry; siblings, Gene Cherry, Roy Cherry, Earl Cherry, Allen Cherry, and Ellen Johnson.

Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of graveside service at 2:00 pm Friday, August 7, 2020 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Nick Cunningham will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
