On Wednesday, September 16, 2020 we lost our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Leona “Lee” Holzmiller passed away at the age of 97.

She was born in Millstadt, Illinois. During WWII, she worked at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Truax Field in Wisconsin, and Shelby Air Depot in Ohio. She retired after twenty-five years with Gray Drug.

She married Paul H. Holzmiller in 1969. She belonged to the American Legion Post 83 Auxiliary and Firelands Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Lee was recognized by Stein Hospice for her over twenty years of service.  She enjoyed volunteering and put her heart into every organization she served. She loved spending time with friends playing Mah Jongg, bridge, and other card games.

She is survived by her sons, Denis (Cheryl) Franklin of Martin, Ohio and Frederick Franklin; daughter, Christine (Terry) Griffith of Menlo Park, California; grandchildren, Mike (Sarah) Franklin of Sandusky, Matthew (Erin) Griffith of Reno, Nevada, and Sarah Franklin Overmeyer of Millbury, Ohio; great grandchildren, Molly Franklin, Tyler Franklin, Michael Franklin, Olivia Griffith, Liam Griffith, Kaila Grant, Olivia Grant, and Dylan Grant. She was devoted to her family to whom she showed unconditional love, kindness, and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Ida Weber; brother, Paul; husband Paul H. Holzmiller and former husband, Fred Franklin.

Honoring Lee’s final wishes, she will be cremated, and a private family memorial service will take place at the Oakland Cemetery Chapel to celebrate her life and the many lives she touched.
