Kathleen A. "Kathy" (Kastor) Tieche

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen A. “Kathy” Tieche, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, at the age of 75.  With her husband by her side, Kathy passed away Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

Kathy was born September 13, 1949, in Sandusky, Ohio at Providence Hospital to Merritt and Jean (Schiefley) Kastor. She was a 1967 graduate of Berlin Local School. Kathy was well-known for her friendly, giving nature, always there to lend a helping hand. She was devoted to her family and a constant supporter of her sons and grandchildren. She more recently was a personal trainer and supported seniors’ health through her work at Team VIAC fitness center. She was also an avid supporter of veterans. Kathy loved spending time with her friends and family most, often attending or hosting parties, supporting her children and grandchildren over the years at school events, and taking the time to talk with everyone she could.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jeffrey Tieche; three sons, Trevor Tieche of Sandusky, Ohio, Corey (Crystal) Tieche of Fredericktown, Ohio, and Derek (Tara) Tieche of Milan, Ohio; grandchildren, Baylie Tieche, Teagen (Victoria) Tieche, Samara Tieche, Verin Tieche, Scarlett Tieche, Lucas Tieche, Chloe Tieche and Mya Tieche; great-grandchild Apollo Tieche; siblings, Linda Layton, Stephen (Vicki) Kastor, Patricia (Mark) Thomas, LaDonna Kastor, Valerie Lucal; sister-in-law Darlene Kastor, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Kastor, and sister, Marcia Stanley.
At Kathy’s request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4-7 PM. A Memorial Service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM.

The Tieche family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff at Fireland Regional Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit, for their great care and compassion during Kathy’s time there.
