Joseph D. “Joey” Doney, 37, of Monroeville passed away suddenly on October 4, 2022.
Joseph was born on August 2, 1985, in Norwalk, Ohio. He attended Monroeville High School and EHOVE Career Center. He lived most of his life in the Norwalk-Monroeville area.
Joey’s two children, Evan, and Cara are the greatest loves of is life. He enjoyed watching them grow and supporting them in their after-school activities.
He loved doing concrete work and had worked with various concrete companies in the area. He was always proud of the work he did and would talk about the latest job he helped complete. Joey was an avid hunter and shared his passion of turkey and deer hunting with his son Evan. They both looked forward to it every year along with Joey’s brother and sister, Matt, and Carla. He would also take both kids mushroom hunting.
Joey had a big heart and would help anyone. He had the personality where he made friends wherever he went.
Unfortunately, Joey battled the long, hard road of addiction and even with all the love and support of his family he could not kick his battle with addiction.
Joe is survived by his parents, Judy (Kessler) and Jay Schaffer of Monroeville, and Gary Doney of Huron; his two children, Evan and Cara Doney and their mother, Christine Hemenway, all of Norwalk; his siblings, Jenny (Brian) Johnson, Adam (Karman Ross) Doney, all of Norwalk, Carla Schaffer of Clyde, Matt (Taylor) Schaffer of Monroeville; step-siblings, Ann Durnwald and Joe Schaffer; nieces and nephews, Dylan, Kai, Lola, Finley, David and Kortney; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
