John M. Lynch, Sr., 70 of Norwalk passed away from a long battle with cancer, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on August 18, 1955, in Norwalk, Ohio and was a 1973 graduate of Norwalk High School. He worked for Norwalk Furniture for over 30 years, Pepperidge Farm for 11 years and from where he retired. His most recent job that he took much joy in doing was as a crossing guard for the City of Norwalk. He loved all the kids and making sure they got across the street safely and giving treats to his friend Buddy.
Everyone who knew John will always remember him as the man who desired nothing more than to brighten someone’s day with a laugh. He was always finding humor in the mundane, even when he was feeling his worst. He loved scratching his scratch-offs and hoping to win big. He was an avid bowler and huge muscle car guy. His most beloved muscle car was the Chevy Nova, especially his 1974 Super Sport that he had when he was young. His favorite past-time was taking his 1972 Nova to car shows and speaking with all the people and seeing all the old-time cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends and making memories with his siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son John Lynch II (Christine) of Norwalk, his daughter Amanda Lynch (Christopher) of Norwalk, his grandchildren, Mercedes (Donald) Willams, John III, Taryn, Joseph (Savannah), Hannah, Kane, Evan, Kellen, Lena Lynch, his great-grandchildren Lincoln, Sophia and Rhenley, his brother Patrick (Barb) Lynch of Fremont, his sisters Susan Barnett of Monroeville, Mary (Joe) Edwards of Sandusky, and Jeanne (Gary) Kloos of South Dakota and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and his beloved dogs Rosie, Otis and cat Jack.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia, parents Robert and Virginia Lynch, son Joseph Allen Lynch, brothers Robert and Timothy, and beloved brother-in-law Bill Barnett.
The burial will be in the Wakeman Cemetery, Wakeman, Ohio at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Huron County Humane Society.
