John Bossart Obituary

John Otto Bossart, 91, of Sandusky, Ohio, transitioned to his heavenly home, Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family.

John was born on September 11, 1932, in Racine, Wisconsin.  He graduated from Park High School in Racine in 1950.  He received his Bachelors degree in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He was a United States Army veteran. In 1959, John married the love of his life, Nancy Bossart and they moved to Sandusky in 1971 where he began his career at the former Farrell Cheek. He retired from LEWCO in 1995. Following retirement, he began working part-time at Cedar Point and JC Penney because he enjoyed spending time with people in his community. John was an active member of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene.

John was a proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin and was a member of its Bascom Hill Society. John enjoyed hosting many Badger Bashs throughout the years at his home and church for his friends and family. He always got a kick out of introducing Kringle, his hometown pastry, to his Ohio friends.  John cherished the memories shared with his Senior Men’s Fellowship buddies and Bridge Club friends.

He is survived by his children, Charles (Christine) Bossart, Gretchen Bossart, and John Bossart Jr.; four grandchildren, Christopher (Savannah) Bossart, C.J. (Betsy) Bossart, Kyle (Alex) Homerick, and Kelly (Paul) Priestas; four great grandchildren with one more on the way; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, and one brother, Byron Bossart.

The funeral will be a private ceremony for family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the Sandusky Community Church of Nazarene, 1617 Milan Road, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or to any church organization that feeds the donor’s soul.
