Janet Irene (Walker) Dupont

Janet I. Dupont, 87, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on March 1, 1938, in Pennsylvania and a graduate of Meyersdale High School in PA. She married her high school sweetheart and moved to the Sandusky/Castalia area in the late 1950’s. Janet was a hard worker and in her early years worked for Barr Rubber and the Ford Plant. She will be fondly remembered for her many years of service with the Margaretta Local School system. Her sweet smile and kindness left a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was proud of her family and enjoyed being a mom to her five children. She especially lit up when the grandkids would visit.

Janet was a member of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years. She enjoyed doing puzzles.

She is survived by her four children, Joseph (Carla) Dupont, Kathy “Sue” (Tony) Westgate, Carol (Bruce) Spring, and William (Joyce) Dupont; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Bittner and JoAnn Mankemayer; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dupont in 1994; her daughter, Teresa Wilson in 2016; her parents, Hiram and Edna (Miller) Walker; one brother and one sister.

Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Road, Sandusky. Pastor Keith Martinez will officiate. The burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
