James R. “Jim” Mitchell, 70, of Franklin, TN and formerly of Sandusky passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born May 26, 1949 in Urbana, Ohio and had lived in Sandusky most of his life. Jim was a 1967 graduate of Sandusky High School. While living in Sandusky, Jim was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was employed at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors before moving to the Saturn plant in Springhill, TN, where he retired. Jim also facilitated the Greyhound Rescue Foundation Prison Program with the Nashville CCA.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Anne-Marie Mitchell of Franklin, TN; one daughter, Beth Ann (John) Brinkman of Berea; one son, Jim Mitchell of Sandusky; three grandchildren, Morgan Brinkman, Alexxa (Carly) Mitchell of Columbus, Cash Mitchell and their mother Angela Griggs of Sandusky; one sister Carla Mitchell of Sandusky.
He was preceded by death by his parents, Harold and Frances Mitchell.
Friends may call from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:30 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Rev. Dr. Eric L. Bodenstab will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
