Howard Wallace Obituary

Howard James Wallace, 77, of Sandusky and formerly of Bellevue, took the last train to his heavenly depot on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Howard was born July 28, 1948, in Bellevue to the late James and Lucille (Kramer) Wallace. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966. Howard then started working for the Nickle Plate/Norfolk Western/Norfolk Southern Railroad.  He worked there for forty-two years minus a three-year stint in the Signal Corp. of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For ten years after retirement, he drove his fifth wheel back and forth to Florida. He then bought a home to winter at Golf Lakes in Bradenton, Florida.

He was a member of the Bellevue Eagles most of his life. Howard also volunteered at the Marblehead Light House for twenty years, giving tours and as a gardener. Many of the flowers there were planted by him. He spent his summers for forty plus years at the Bay Point Campground in Marblehead, Ohio. He loved to jet ski. Howard was a gentleman who was always willing to help anyone with anything. As his friends and family can attest he was quick witted with a sarcastic twist. You never knew if what he was saying was the truth or a joke.

Howard leaves behind his wife of fifty-three years, Mary H. (McNally) Wallace; sons, Patrick H. of Charles Town, West Virginia, Christopher J. of Clyde, Ohio, and daughter-in-law, Christina Smith of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Aydrian, Brooklyn, Chloey, and Dylan, all of Clyde, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wallace of Bellevue and a niece, Lorra McNally.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the School of Hope, Fremont, Ohio or the Wounded Warriors.

Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky has been entrusted with the arrangements.
