Herman Missler Obituary

Herman Sylvester Missler, 98, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born August 1, 1922 at the family home in Bellevue, Ohio. He attended St. Sebastian Catholic School, walking to school every day with his siblings. Herman served in the Army during WWII. He married the love of his life, Virginia Rose (Kocher) Missler, July 6, 1963 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Milan and the two spent 57 wonderful years together.

He was a devout catholic alter server until the age of 85, doing weekday masses and sometimes funerals, at St. Sebastian and St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Churches. He was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church. Herman was a farmer his entire life. He loved driving tractors on the farm and taking his grandkids for rides. He worked hard to provide for his family. He not only farmed but worked as a carman for the Bellevue Railroad for ten years and the candy factory in Bellevue for a while. Herman loved spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and the entire family reminiscing about the “old days”.

He is survived by two children, Annette (Kevin) Bond and Gerard (Sheila) Missler, both of Bellevue; six grandchildren, Ashley Bond, Nathaniel (Kaylee) Bond, Allison Bond, Brittany (Seth) Gonzales, Brandon Missler, and Ryan Missler; great grandchildren, Luke Bond, Jaci Bond, Mia Gonzales, and Dahlia Gonzales; sister-in-law, Theresa (John) Hofacker; brother-in-law, Charles Kocher; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Rose (Kocher) Missler on October 14, 2020; his parents, Fredrick P. and Ottilia (Gerber) Missler; siblings, Elmer (Marie) Missler, Henrietta (Leo) Frisch, Joanna Missler, Marcella (William) Scherer, Rosella (Ralph) Heydinger, Lucille (Arnold) Schneider, Irene (Kenneth) Oeder, Zita (Francis) Huss, Rita (Vincent) Felker; brothers-in-law, Howard Kocher, Robert (Inge) Kocher, Roy Kocher; sisters-in-law, Mary Kocher, Rita (Howard) Fulton, and Patricia Kocher; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 6, 2020 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville.
