Helen Mary (Trautman) Wobser

Helen Mary Trautman Wobser, 94 Sandusky passed away at home with family by her side Sunday June 26th.

She was born on November 27, 1927 in Perkins Township. She was the seventh child of thirteen children of Verna Marie Trautman and Howard Dennis Trautman. She was a life-long member of Holy Angels Catholic Church being baptized there on December 18, 1927 by the Reverend Father Thomas Quinn. On August 24, 1946 she married Eugene H. (Dutch) Wobser in the rectory of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They were blessed with five children.

Next to her God and Savior she loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren with her whole heart.

In May of 1995 she entered the Secular Order of Carmelites in Toledo, Ohio. In May of 2003 she made her profession of final vows. In the meantime, she helped to form the first Carmelite community in Sandusky and was the first president of the Sandusky Community of the Secular Order of Discaled Carmelites, Holy Family of the Infant Jesus’ Flame of Love. In Religion her name was Sister Mary Rose Therese of the Sacred Wound of the Shoulder of Jesus.

Surviving are her Children, Mrs. Starr Davenport, Clyde, OH, Mrs. Crystal (Robert) Hinkle, Griffin, GA, Eugene (Marlee) Wobser, Sandusky, OH, Mrs. Marigene (Rocco) Maltese, Sandusky, OH, Mrs. Ellen (Gene) Messer, Fowler, MI, also her sister, Patricia Neill, and brothers, Robert (Aggie) Trautman, and Frank Trautman. Twenty grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Verna Trautman, her husband of fifty years, Eugene Howard (Dutch) Wobser Sr., her brothers Clifford Trautman, Howard (Bunk) Trautman, Victor Trautman, Vincent Trautman, her sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Laws, Mary Baker, Shirley Pudgurski, two sisters in infancy and son-in-law, Sandford (Davy) Davenport.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm Thursday, June 30, 2022, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 1, 2022, in the Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870. Father Jacob George will officiate. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
