Harlan P. “Pat” Dougan, 84, of Sandusky and formerly of Bay Village, OH passed away Wednesday October 26, 2022, at the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born February 7, 1938, in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Harborcreek High School. He joined the Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964 and was discharged in Seattle, Washington, where he ran a service station. He moved his family to Bay Village, OH in in 1970 where he lived most of his life. He worked and retired from the former Northern Frozen Foods aka Northern Haserot.
Harlan had a magnetic personality. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him loved him and enjoyed his engaging conversations and sense of humor. He had the ability to brighten everyone’s day. Harlan’s most treasured moments were those spent with his loving family.
He is survived by his children, Robin Gingell (Ron Wallace) and Bradley Dougan; four grandchildren, Julie Gingell, Michael Gingell, Gavin Dougan, and Cordelia “Dia” Dougan; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Pietrasz) Dougan in 2015; his parents, Elmer and Martha (Hazle) Dougan; two brothers, Norman Dougan and Gary Dougan.
The family will hold a celebration of Harlan’s life from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2022, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Military services will be held at 10:15 am on Monday, November 7, 2022, in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, where burial will take place.
The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to everyone at the Ohio Veterans Home, who showed Harlan lots of love and respect. Please know that he enjoyed his time with you and appreciated you all very much!
