Gregory James "Greg" Matter

Gregory J. “Greg” Matter, 62, of Sandusky passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his residence.

He was born August 27, 1962, in Sandusky. Greg was a 1980 graduate of Margaretta High School, where he was involved in FFA. Following graduation, Greg served six years in the Army National Guard. He worked for many years through the name changes at KBI, following their closure he was employed at Biro Manufacturing. Greg loved fishing and collecting guns.

He is survived by his children, Jeremy Matter (Courtney) and Shane Matter; stepson, Seth Spring; five grandchildren; his father, James Guy Matter (Mimi); his sisters, Laura (Tim) Smith and Dana Furmanek; his stepfather, Jim Maloney; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Fitz Maloney; maternal grandparents, Delbert and Claudine Fitz; and paternal grandparents, Norbert and Marion Boose and Oliver P. Matter.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Castalia Cemetery, 407 Bardwell Road, Castalia. Fr. Phil Feltman will officiate. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to Berardi’s Family Kitchen, 1019 W. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky for continued celebration of Greg’s life.
