Grant James Gardner passed away suddenly on January 5, 2026, due to complications from a pre-existing medical condition, leaving a family and community forever changed in his absence.
Grant was an honorable man who lived with integrity, compassion, and strength. Grant was a proud BGSU alumnus who took pride in his career and made a special bond with the children he supported, many friends, and coworkers. Grant enjoyed watching Cleveland sports, taking long walks, and spending time with family and friends (while cracking a witty joke here and there). He was someone to depend on, and was steady, genuine, and selfless. Although his life was short, the impact he made on the lives of those around him is immeasurable. He will be dearly missed.
Grant is survived by his parents, Christopher and Christina Gardner, his siblings, Ashley Lawrence (Jared Clark) and Grace Gardner; his grandmother, Sue Ann Smith; his aunts and uncles, Ann (Joe) Marnix, Amy (Steve) Durrah; and great uncle Robert Wassner, along with many other family members that love him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James (Jean) Gardner, James Hill, and Robert Smith.
Please come and share any love and stories you have of Grant from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A church service will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne Street, Sandusky. A committal service will be held at 11:00 am at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Fr. Seth Wymer and Fr. Brian Wilbert will officiate.
