Fredrick Henry Potter

Fredrick Henry Potter, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep from COVID on Wednesday January 19, 2022, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.

He was one of seven children born to Henry Sherman and Freda Frances Potter (nee Orr) on March 14, 1943, in Sandusky Ohio. He attended Sandusky High School and in 1962, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Airforce where he did electrical work on aircrafts. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1966.

In civilian life, he worked for Pratt and Whitney and Lockheed Martin. He settled in Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1970’s and lived there until returning to Sandusky in 2017 to live at the Ohio Veterans Home.

Fred’s favorite pastimes were sports betting and casino games. He was a beloved uncle to Errol, Mia, Lorre, Penny, Brad, David, Andrea, Melissa, Krisdan, Tara, Nyla, Ethan, Mallory, and Hammond. He was also a dear cousin to Andrea (Edgar) Shepherd, Stephanie Orr, Virginia Orr, and James (Rhonda) Orr.

He is survived by his three sisters, Jeanine (Larry) Donaldson of Lorain; Valerie (Andrew) Edwards of Columbus; and Cherie Alexander, Windsor Ct.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Freda Potter, brothers Thomas and Joseph, a sister Shermane Potter, and brother-in-law Andrew Edwards.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 11am at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Family will be present at 10:30am. Pastor Tim Williams of Greater Victory Ministries in Lorain, Ohio will officiate. COVID protocols will be followed.
