Frederick L. Walters, 71. a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky and formerly of Galion passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
He was born March 5, 1948 to Fred & Evelyn (McCleese) Walters in Ironton, Ohio and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. Buck, as he was known by his friends, was employed as a welder at Peabody International Corp in Galion for many years. He then became a STNA, working for a couple of nursing facilities in the Galion area, a job he truly enjoyed. Buck liked fishing, swimming in the Ohio River, playing his guitar, singing with his wife Linda Mae (the love of his life) and spending time with his family. Buck was a true Cleveland Brown fan. He had resided at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky for the past 4 ½ years, where he was known and loved by many.
He is survived by three brothers, Donald “Buddy” (Sharon) Walters, Mike (Barbara) Walters and Jack (Connie) Walters, all of Galion; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Barbara Jenkins, Sharon Harmon, Judy Castle and Donna Jenkins.
Friends may call Monday, March 9, 2020 from 12:30 pm until time of Military Funeral Service at 1:00 pm in the Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veteran Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky.
