Elmer R. Turner, 96, of Monroeville passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his residence.
Elmer was born to Elmer John and Estella (Ritzen) Turner on November 19, 1924 in Oxford Township, Monroeville, Ohio. He served in the United States Army as a Carpenter General from November 1945 until April 1947. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1990 after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Monroeville. Elmer loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, gardening, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and working on cars with his sons.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn J. (Bowers) Turner; one daughter, Rebecca Ferguson and her fiancé Carl Stucky of Kimball; two sons, Jeffery (Heather) Turner and Kevin (Christine) Turner both of Bellevue, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Clarabelle Williams of Sandusky; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Elmer was preceded in death by his son, Elmer John Turner and his grandson by the same name; his parents, one brother, John Charles Turner; three sisters, Stella Lorenz, Kathryn Viock, and Myrtle Turner; and his son-in-law, John David Ferguson.
Friends may call for 2:00 pm until time of celebration of life at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville.
