Donald Henry “Don” Wangler, 73, of Monroeville passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, May 4, 2021.
He was born December 23, 1947 in Sandusky and was a 1965 graduate of Sandusky High School. Following graduation, Don served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1968. He was employed at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors for thirty-one years. He has served on the Monroeville Village Council for two terms and had also worked part time for Underground Utilities, Monroeville. Don was a retired Captain from the Huron River Joint Fire District after thirty-six years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, the American Legion Post 547, Monroeville, UAW Local 913, and had served on the Fire Brigade at New Departure.
Don loved spending time with his wife and family. He also enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, and playing with his dog Willow.
He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, the former Linda Sue Boehler, whom he married on June 24, 1972; two children, Kristen Cameron and Darren (Nichole Tigges) Wangler, both of Norwalk; three grandchildren, Austin Cameron, Caitlen Cameron, and Gavin Wangler; and father-in-law, Richard Boehler of Monroeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald W. and Evelyn (Echardt) Wangler.
Private services for the family will be held at a later date.
