Donald Smith Obituary

Donald Lee Smith, 95, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Monday April 24, 2023, at his residence.

He was born May 6, 1927, in Port Clinton and was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Don retired after 44 years from the former Chef’s Pantry in Sandusky.

He is a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky and was a previous member of the former Resurrection Lutheran Church and the former St. Paul Lutheran Church. Don was a life member of the AMVETS Post 17, Melody Makers Choir, and the Good Sams Camping Club, Chapter 23.

He is survived by two sons, Jeff Smith of Norwalk and Chris (Nancy) Smith of Sandusky; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith of Sandusky; three stepchildren, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Smith in 2022; one son, Donald Kevin Smith; his parents, Lewis and Nettie (Irick) Smith; and four siblings.

Friends may call from 12:30 pm until the time of funeral service at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 28, 2023, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. The burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
