Donald Beck Obituary

Donald A. Beck, 54, of Bellevue passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in his residence following a courageous battle against cancer. Don’s life passion was his faith, family, and mentoring and coaching students of all ages.

Don was born December 5, 1965. He was a 1984 graduate of Monroeville High School and a proud member of the 1984 Monroeville State Championship basketball team. Don served in the U.S. Army National Guard and earned his Associate Degree at Terra Tech in Fremont.  He and his high school sweetheart, Krista (Barnett) Beck, married 30 year ago and raised their two daughters, Lindsey (Beck) Gauss and Lexi Beck in Krista’s childhood home.  For many years he worked for Bellevue City Schools and was very active in the Bellevue community as a 1st-4th girls and boys basketball coach at the Bellevue Recreational Center, for 5th/6th grade girls Hardwood basketball, and as an assistant 8th grade girls’ coach.

When the opportunity arose for Don to return to his Alma Mater, he jumped at the chance and became Transportation Supervisor for Monroeville Local Schools, where he has been employed for the past seven years. Don quickly became involved in the basketball program in Monroeville, coaching 5th and 6th grade teams, and eventually becoming the JV coach.

Don was a very active member of The Chapel, at both Sandusky and Norwalk Campuses, where he served in many different ministries. His favorite role was pouring his heart into the lives of students of all ages through serving and leading Kids Celebration, JAM Worship Team, and Middle School Youth Group.

Don is survived by his wife Krista; his two daughters, Lindsey (Casey) Gauss of Indianapolis, IN and Lexi Beck of Bellevue, OH; one grandson on the way; siblings, Julie (Joe) Murawski of Hilliard, OH, Bonnie Beck of Monroeville, OH, Jamie (Peter) DePaola of Coventry, CT, Tom (Mickey) Beck of Norwalk, OH, David (Ann) Beck of Monroeville, OH, and his twin brother, Dale Beck of Monroeville, OH; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gloria (Wagner) Beck; infant twin siblings, John and Mary; and a great nephew, Oliver Finn Johnson.

Friends may call from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, July 13, 2020 at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky.
