Darlene "Dar" College Obituary

Darlene Tracey College (nee Johnson), 68, of Huron passed away on June 25, 2021 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Darlene (Dar) was born on the 26th of July, 1952 in Buffalo to the late Kenneth and Joyce Johnson.

She graduated from Maryvale High School in Cheektowaga, New York.  She went on to cosmetology school and later to Airco Technical Institute of Welding.  She spent most of her life as a waitress for many restaurants in Buffalo and over 20 years at the American Legion Post 83 in Sandusky, Ohio. Dar was the type of person that needed to be surrounded by people and laughter. She loved everyone and in return they loved her. She was a member of AMVETS Post 17, Eagles 444 and the VFW Post 2529.  Dar and friends were avid supporters of Flight 93 after 9/11; organizing benefits raising $27,000 that was donated to the families who lost loved ones on that flight.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Kathy) Marks of Tonawanda, New York; two grandchildren Richard (Torrie) Marks of Lackawanna, New York and Joey Marks of Jamestown, New York; two great grandchildren Richard and Liliya; brothers Richard (Kim) Johnson, Kenneth (Cindy) Johnson and Barry Johnson; sisters Linda (Larry) Roe, Yvonne (Sam Guercio) Johnson; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; best (sister) friends Carol Caldwell and Barbie LaCourse and many, many more.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph College and youngest brother Randall Scott Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be by her mother at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York.
