Charles H. Ruffing, 89, of Monroeville passed away peacefully Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his residence.
He was born August 25, 1935, in Bellevue and was a graduate of Bellevue High School. Charlie married Helen M. (Swaney) Ruffing on October 5, 1957. He was a lifelong farmer and owned and operated the Charles H. Ruffing & Son Trucking Company.
Charlie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 547. He enjoyed chocolate, ice cream, beer, and family gatherings where he loved to end the visit with his famous one liner ... “GLAD YOU GOT TO SEE ME”.
He is survived by his second wife, Agnes (Seifker) Pierce; his four children, Tina (Ross) Welch, Maryanne (Sam) Reamer, both of Norwalk, Katy (John) Scheneberg, Johnson City, TN, and Timothy (Valerie) Ruffing, Monroeville; ten grandchildren, Jason, Joe, Josh, Brad, Amanda, Lori, Matt, Hannah, Brooke, and Nicole; ten great grandchildren, Aidan, Dylan, Scarllett, Everett, Mason, Peyton, Charlie, Jacob, Haygen, and Athelia; two sisters, Gerry Wilhelm, Monroeville and Ernestine (Jerry) Walliser, Attica; one brother, Tom (Sylvia) Ruffing, Bellevue; his step children, Steve Pierce, Marvin Pierce, Dave (Lori) Pierce, Molly (Steve) Laux, and Kevin Pierce; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Ruffing in 2003; his parents, Vincent and Almarie (Stockmaster) Ruffing; one brother-in-law, Norbert Wilhelm, and his father and mother-in-law, Gladden and Elizabeth Swaney.
Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
