Carol Ann (Graves) Hay

Carol Ann (Graves) Hay, 86, of Ashland and formerly of Sandusky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Bridge Hospice, Blanchard Valley Health System, Findlay, Ohio.

She was born on November 21, 1939, in Sandusky and was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School. Carol made many friends in school and always helped with the class reunions. She enjoyed attending her monthly class luncheons in Sandusky. Carol received her bachelor's degree from BGSU in teaching and her master’s degree from Mary Grove College. Carol taught various grades in Sandusky and Ashland, spending most of her 30 years as a 5th grade teacher at Osborn Elementary before retiring. She truly enjoyed being an at-home mom for a season with her three children taking them to various activities.

Carol was a Girl Scout leader, was a member of a gardening club, the Ashland City Teachers Association and Park Street Brethren Church in Ashland.

She enjoyed doing crafts, painting, sewing, knitting, and flower gardening with the help of her special neighbors, Ray and Anita Weaver. Carol was extremely creative and for many years had a booth “Country Reflections” at craft shows in her area and later a booth at Sol's in Amish Country. Her greatest accomplishment was her family and the love she had for them was extraordinary.

She is survived by three children, Kimberly (John) Bookmyer, Zionsville, Indiana, Michael (Kimberly) Hay, Beaver, Pennsylvania, and Jessica (Joe) Puperi, Findlay, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brennan (Kaitlyn) Bookmyer, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Vischer, Ahnika Hay, Aiden Hay, Andrew Puperi, and Matthew Puperi; three great grandchildren, Evelyn, Macklin, and Tegan Bookmyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy (Krapp) Graves.

Friends may call from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Todd Nielsen will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
