Betty Lou (Snyder) Cherry

Betty Lou (Snyder) Cherry, 88, of Bay View passed away peacefully after a brief illness at home Thursday October 10, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was born December 22, 1935, the daughter of Franklin Snyder and Kathleen (Ryan) Weyer. She was a graduate of Margaretta High School. Betty married her husband of sixty-seven years, Lynn H. Cherry on March 14, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sandusky.

She was employed as a police dispatcher and clerk of courts for the village of Bay View prior to retirement. She also had been employed at the original Bay Bell Restaurant. She was a member of the Bay View Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, James (Deborah) Cherry of Bay View; her daughter, Kathy (William) Keegan of Sandusky; son-in-law, James Lochotzki of Bay View; sister-in-law, Cora Lou Snyder of Bay View; the love of her son’s Brian’s life, Lisa Drake of Crystal Rock; special caregiver and granddaughter, Marla Lochotzki; caregiver and granddaughter, Stacy Lochotzki; seventeen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn H. Cherry in 2020; daughter, Diana Lochotzki; son, Brian Cherry; grandson, Kyle Cherry; great great grandson, Jey’velle Mosely; her parents, and grandparents, Catherine Jenkins, and Burl Aldrich; two brothers, Paul Snyder and Robert Aldrich; stepfather, Victor Weyer.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. We will go in procession for a graveside service at 2:00 pm in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Fr. Nick Cunningham will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
