Bernard M. Wegner, 70, of Monroeville passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 11, 2021 at his residence.
He was born October 31, 1950 in Ostermunzel, Germany. Bernard graduated from James Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland, Ohio and received his Associate Degree from Terra Tech Community College. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. Bernard was employed as the night manager at the Castaway Bay Hotel, Sandusky prior to his retirement.
His hobbies included cooking, vegetable gardening, and watching the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by one daughter, Lindsey (Carl) Smith of Columbus; one son, Mitchell Wegner of Monroeville; one sister, Ingrid McCaman of Wadsworth, Ohio; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda (Riley) Wegner in 2006; his mother, Else Spoerr; his father, Robert A. Wegner; two brothers, Helmut and Robert Wegner; and one sister, Linda Ivanic.
Graveside services for the family will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 15, 2021 in the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, 55 S. West Street, Norwalk. Fr. Michael Bialorucki will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
