Basil "Sonny" Lowe Obituary

Basil "Sonny" Philip Lowe, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.

Basil was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 21, 1936, to Basil and Mary (Sauer) Lowe Beckler. He attended St. Ann's grade school and graduated from Macomber Vocational School in 1954, where he lettered in basketball. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant.

He married Jacquelynn Ewers in 1958, and they shared seven children. He then pursued a career in car sales, where he worked at Rittenhouse Motors, George Ballas Buick, and finished his career at Charlie's Dodge as a new car sales manager. Basil was known for his quick wit and ability to bring a smile to others. He then met and married Brenda Robinson, and they shared four children.

Basil was an avid runner and could be seen all over the Perrysburg area putting in his miles and waving to passersby.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; former wife, Brenda; children, Bradley, Barry (Cathy), Brian (Lee), Stefanie Davie, Stacie, Jason Pardon, Shannon, Sara (Matthew) Haig, and Steven (Allison) Lowe. He is also survived by his sisters, Roberta "Bobbie" Schroeder and Mary "Sue" Sosko. Basil leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Khalaf; son, Basil; infant daughter, Susan; and his first wife, Jacquelynn.

The family would like to thank Ohio Veterans Home for their helpful and supportive care. A special thank you is also extended to Bob Bidwell and the Knights of Columbus for all of their support.

A celebration of Basil's life will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St., Perrysburg, Ohio, on January 9, 2026. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following Mass.

The family would like to express our thanks to the Ohio Veterans home in Sandusky, the domiciliary unit, and 1 South.
