Allen W. Kidd

Allen W. Kidd, 84, of Sandusky passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Reserve Care Stein Hospice, Sandusky.

Allen was born in Huron, Ohio on January 18, 1942, to Kenneth and Eleanor (Silcox) Kidd. Allen graduated from Huron High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1960-1968. He was employed as a Teamsters long-haul truck driver for over thirty years. Allen was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Amvets Post #17. Allen was commander of the Amvets Post #17 for numerous years during which time he received the Commander of the Year Award for the state of Ohio. Allen was very dedicated to Amvets Post #17 helping with tournaments, fundraisers, and making many needed improvements. He enjoyed volunteering with his grandson, Dakota, at the Ohio Veterans Home.

Allen was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and grandfather. He gave his life to his family, ensuring they had a wonderful life. His heart and soul were his grandchildren and spent his life showing his love and support to them. He enjoyed many hours at baseball and volleyball games, as well as baton and many family vacations.

Dakota Brown was Papa's best bud and can be attributed to making Dakota the man he is today. Dakota and Allen were inseparable until the final transition. Allen was also recently united with his son, Allen (Rosco) Larson, which brought him great joy and love. Allen's heart was complete and never more at peace after reconnecting with his son.

Allen loved raising mini-lop rabbits and all his rabbit family. He loved NASCAR racing and spending countless hours at the Sandusky Speedway with his lifetime friend, Tommy Johnson. Allen enjoyed spending time with his cousin Fred Leimeister and wife Kay, who were very dear to Allen. Allen loved Ohio State football and the Cleveland Indians. He loved debating with Dakota that in fact, there would be another rematch between the Braves, which is Dakota's favorite team, and the Indians, ensuring that the Indians would be champions at last. Allen will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends.

Allen is survived by his daughter Holly Kidd, of Sandusky; son, Allen (Sandra) Larson of Tennessee; beloved grandson, Dakota Brown; princess granddaughter Kaidyn Brown; great-grandsons, Michael Kidd, Anthony Kidd, and John Baker of Sandusky; three great-great grandchildren; and two estranged stepsons, Scott and Frank Kidd.  

Allen was preceded in death by his wife of thirty plus years, Sharon Lee Kidd; parents, Kenneth and Eleanor Kidd; and brother William Kidd.

A gathering to celebrate Allen's life will take place at Amvets Post #17 at a later date.
