Allan Buchanan McFarland, 73, passed away Saturday February 4, 2023, in Sandusky, Ohio.
Allan served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Allan retired from Schneider National after twenty-four years where he was both a long-haul driver and instructor. He loved sailing and boating and considered Maine a second home. In the five years he lived at the Ohio Veterans Home he made great friends, was involved in the betterment of the facility for residents and participated in many group outings. He will be greatly missed by family and friends that knew him.
Allan is survived by Sherry McFarland (Diamond) cherished wife of thirty-four years; he was a stepfather of three, Ron (Yvonne) LoPresto, Adam LoPresto and Laurie (Rich) Dixon; loving Papa to Adam, Zach, Hanna, Alex, Sophie, Hope and Grace; the youngest of his three siblings, Malcolm Jr. (Marjorie) McFarland, Richard (Anette) McFarland, and Elizabeth (Chip) McFarland Strickland; beloved uncle to Malcolm 3rd, Gregory, Braddock and Brett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Elizabeth (Swint) McFarland.
Military service and burial will be held at 11:15 am on Friday, February 17, 2023, in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
