Ruth E. McCarthy

Ruth E. McCarthy, 93, of Castalia and formerly of Sandusky went to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, May 22, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.

She was born February 14, 1925 and attended Sandusky High School. She was a housewife and mother for most of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Temple Church, where she enjoyed the bible study groups. Ruth was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2529 and AMVETS Post 17, and a member of the American Legion Post 83. Her hobbies included crocheting, dancing, walking, and she especially loved playing the organ.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. (Dave) Quick of Castalia and Darlene C. (Ronald) Frank of Galloway, Ohio; one son, Robert L. (Debbie) McCarthy of Sandusky; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren with one more on the way, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. McCarthy in 2004; two daughters Jean Ann McCarthy and Cheryl L. Janey; two grandsons, Johnathon D. Quick and Bryan Michael McCarthy; three great grandsons, Caleb Fultz, Donovan Janey, and Nicholas A. Frank; her mother and step father, Helen and Lawrence Gegner; one brother, Jack Cottey; two half-brothers, Robert and Donald Cottey.

Friends may call Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. J. David Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
