Richard "Peanuts" Roy Leber

Richard R. “Peanuts” Leber, 83, of Monroeville passed away Wednesday morning, March 29, 2017 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born on October 15, 1933 in Norwalk and was a graduate of Milan High School.  Rich was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a life-long farmer and had also drove truck for Growers Chemical.  Known as “Peanuts” to many, he had served as an Oxford Township Trustee. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and the Erie County Farm Bureau.  His hobbies included bowling, playing cards and was a true Cleveland Indians fan.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Patricia I. Bunting; three children, Scott (Kathy) Leber, Gary Leber and Cindy Tallman, all of Monroeville; five grandchildren, Zachary & Rachel Leber, Jacob, Kayla and Ryan Tallman; two sisters, Jean (Roy) Gilbert of Huron, Gloria Scagnetti of Norwalk; one half-brother, William (Jenny) Leber of Oklahoma; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Katherine (Andrews) Leber and a brother-in-law, James Scagnetti.

Friends may call today, Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Visitation for the family will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM in the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Road West, Milan, Ohio.  The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate.  Burial will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery.
