Dear Susan and Family,
I am so sorry I wasn't able to personally to share my condolences with you. I wanted you to know that I highly admired Ray a lot. He was remarkable. All my best thoughts go with this note.
Most sincerely,

Thank you, John. It has been a few rough months. I'd have rather lost a limb than him but God didn't give me a choice. I've had two different "spirit" episodes so I am sure he is stil with me. You were always a special friend and I have some treasured Bogart memories. I so appreciate your thinking of us. If you read the other notes, our only grandchild is Elizabeth. She is 10 and extremely gifted--and that is not just an opinionated Grandma speaking. In April she took the Standford Ach. test and scored 99%tile in every section. Printout indicated she missed 2 in Sci and 2 in Soc St-no others! Fortunately, they can afford for Nel to be home and school her as there is nowhere within more than an hour drive that could fit her needs. The gift to which she refers is an 80# to scale, solid wood rocking horse that stands about 4' at his head. She calls him Mr Whittles as Ray carved it for her when she was two. If your ever headed over to the peninsula OR visiting Florida, do make contact and stop in. We winter in Palmetto which is on the west side between Sarasota and St. Pete. Our park is on the Manatee River and so we are trailer trash year-round. Thanks again. Hugs, Susan

A Granddaughter's Only Wish

Dear Pa,
Thank you for being there while you could.

Thank you for playing with me when you were strong.

Thank you for holding my hand, even when you felt unwell.

Thank you for carving me the best present ever.

But most importantly, thank you for loving me no matter what.

My only wish is that: I could remember the times when you would play with me, read with me, and sometimes (rarely) just sit with me.

Susan, Jil & Nel: As we are unfortunately unable to attend today's services, we wanted to let you know we will be thinking of you today and following days and to express our sincerest and heartfelt condolences for your tremendous loss.
Ray was "ONE OF A KIND". I cherish the times we spent together and count myself as being fortunate for having such a true friend as Ray and for the fond memories I have of him which I'll take to my grave. Love, John & Susan

Thank you so much for your kind, caring, thoughtful words. You have been such very special people in our life and there are certainly many cherished memories of our times together. The last few months have been difficult watching his decline. 'd have rather lost a limb than him but God didn't give me a choice. I have heard from so many how beautiful the sefice was. The girls handled almost everything and things were different. Ray wanted a piper and we had one who led the procession across the street to the old Knights of Columbus building now being remodled, etc by Tom Bodner, who lived the 3rd house south of us on Maple--had all his kids (5) and that is going to be a great addition to Sandusky. A MTFD big truck blocked Columbus Ave for people to cross with 3 officers standing by. What a wonderful tribute. Thank you for years of love and special memories. Hope all is well with you and your children and grandkids. All is good with our girls and family. Hugs to both of you, Susan

Thank you for being there with us and thank you SO MUCH for stepping in and doing the toast...SO appreciated. If you are out this way, do stop in. I have lots of things to get rid of in the barn--boat, camping stuff and tools. If you can use things, stop by. Love to you--and don't forget about our "cheap" park in FL--stop and check it out! Hugs to you both, Susan

Susan and Nel,
Sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I remember all of the great conversations we had at our summer job and down at the Ivy House. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Thank you, Bill. Yes, there are lots of wonderful memories. You would love to work with our grandchild--one and only ELizabeth that belongs to Nel and Greg. She is extremely gifted - in every area but she can mentally figure out a math puzzle question before Nel can tell her how to approach it! Her 6th grade Stanford Ach. test taken in April (she is 10) scored every subject area at 99th%tile. She Printout showed 4 missed on entire test--2 in science and 2 in soc studies. It is getting t the point that Nel has to work to stay ahead of her. Fortunately, Nel is able to stay at home to home school her as there in nothing available within more than an hour's drive. She does keep her Civil ENg. P.E. current through computer CEU's. Good to hear from you. If you're on this side of the peninsula and me car is here, do stop in. I am at 7 Crown-almost directly across from ENglebeck second house n the right as you enter off Bayshore. Thanks, again for thinking of us at this most difficult time. Ray's passing was expected as he had been under Hospice care for a few months but I am still numb. Hugs to you, Susan
